Caroline Elaine Comes Home

After many weeks of morning sickness and mood swings for both of us we finally had our beautiful baby girl! Caroline Elaine Sharp was born on Sunday, August 21st at 4:40 in the morning. She weighed 6lbs 15oz and was 19" long with a full head of thick dark hair.

With one trip to the hospital a few days before, I was reluctant to leave my nephew's birthday party. They hadn't brought out the cookie cake yet and I didn't want to feel stupid if they sent me home But after being relatively certain my water had broken while shopping at the Gap a couple hours before, my contractions coming every five minutes, and my mom going all momarazzi with her camera we decided to go. We got to the hospital around 9:30 and I got my epidural. Going all natural the first time the epidural made the delivery room like a party! At 4:30 or so my doctor showed up, I pushed twice and she was here! My amazing husband, mom and sister-in-law were all there with me in the delivery room. My sister-i-law, Kalee, is an AMAZING photographer and she caught it all on her camera (nothing gross). It was just by luck she was even in town as they were not supposed to come to visit until next weekend. Sadly my Granny passed away suddenly and they came for the funeral. Kalee was so excited to be in the room she was doing cheerleader style high kicks, squealing and giggling like a school girl!

After what felt like a vacation in the luxurious St. john's hospital we came home on Tuesday. It has been relatively easy so far. She sleeps most of the time and only cries when she is hungry. We have already taken her on a few outings to the doctor, Trader Joe's, Target, a friend's house and church. Ty, our oldest, has kept us laughing with all of his one liners about breastfeeding! He is always asking if I'm "milking the baby". He's constantly wanting to talk to her, touch her, put toys on her head, asks if she is poopy so he can run away, is concerned about her umbilical cord and wants to know what baby will get it next when it falls off and if he can take her with him when he leaves the house to go anywhere. Parenting 2 has been great thus far and I keep telling Matt we should have ten more! (he does not share my enthusiasm). I can't wait to see what next week has in store.
